Songwriting Workshops
Songwriting workshops are designed as collaborative experiences, where singers become active participants in creating an original piece of music.
Jim begins by singing with the group, exploring rhythm and different styles of music, and creating a foundation for collaboration.
From there, the singers' own ideas become the starting point.
Once the song has been created, Jim brings portable recording equipment to capture the choir's vocals. He then takes the recordings back to his studio, where he produces and mixes the finished track.
The choir receives both the recording and the finished musical score. Many of the songs created through the workshops are later published, giving other choirs the opportunity to perform them and share the ideas of their peers.
Jim asks questions that encourage participants to look inward and share what is important to them:
What is most important to you in life?
What would you like to sing about?
What is an obstacle you would like to overcome?
If you could change anything, what would it be?
Together, Jim and the singers transform these thoughts into lyrics, melodies, rhythms, and harmonies, allowing the song to develop organically from the group.
